Our Pastor

What is your ministry experience?

I was called into the ministry midway through my career in the U.S. Air Force, and served my first pastorate at New Beginnings Fellowship in Provo, Utah. After 3 1/2 years there, I was asked to pastor Rosewood Lane Church of the Nazarene in Layton, Utah. After 3 years there (and after almost 30 years being away from home) Mary and I came back to the Pacific Northwest, where I served as associate to the Everett South Church of the Nazarene. After 7 years there, the Lord led me to serve my current assignment as pastor of Sky Valley Church of the Nazarene.

What do you do in your spare time?

Being a bi-vocational pastor (I have a 40-hour work week, as well as serving the church), I don't have much spare time. But I fly fish every chance I get, and also like to work around in my garden.

What books do you like to read?

Due to my hectic schedule, I don't often get a chance to read much. But I consistently read through the Bible each year during my morning devotions, and of course read Bible commentaries, Bible dictionaries, etc. during sermon preparation.

What movies to you like to watch?

My wife, Mary, and I have a collection of older movie series' that we enjoy watching through each year: Indiana Jones, musicals (Oklahoma! and Music Man are favorites), Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond (Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only are favorites), Pink Panther, John Wayne westerns (War Wagon, Eldorado are favorites), the Lord of the Rings, war movies (A Bridge Too Far is a favorite).

Where are you most content?

Wet-wading a western stream in mid-summer, casting big, bushy dry flies to rising wild trout.
